Philipp Leberer

Energy Coordinator, Town of Banff

Originally from Germany, Philipp feels fortunate to live inside Canada’s first National Park. Here, he works passionately on energy efficiency and decarbonization of the community.

While studying Forestry in the Black Forest, Philipp had the opportunity to participate in an exchange program which brought him to the University of Alberta. The vast, natural landscapes of western Canada captured his heart (as did a Canadian girl).

After a few years away from Canada to obtain Master degrees in Sustainable Energy Planning and Wind Power Project Management in Sweden and Denmark, and work for renewable power developers in Germany, Philipp moved back to Alberta in 2019.

Bringing together like minded individuals to work on common goals is both a private and professional passion of Philipp’s. He is a strong believer in cooperatives, and learning about the extensive history of cooperatives in the Prairies has given him an appreciation of the Albertans before us.

Philipp is looking forward to contributing to the success of Alberta Co-operative Energy and keeping member interests at heart.
