Alberta Co-operative Energy (ACE) was created to give Albertans control over their energy. Originating from rural electrification associations, it is the province’s first full-service co-op retailer, providing electricity, natural gas, and renewable options, across Alberta.
Putting people first since day one
We started ACE with a clear vision: affordable-transparent energy from a company that puts community first. Unlike investor-owned utilities, our profits stay in the province. We reinvest them into communities, share them with members, or use them for programs to strengthen Alberta.
Timeline
Rural electrification associations (REAs) form across Alberta, bringing power to farms and communities that private companies wouldn’t serve.
Deregulation opens Alberta’s energy market, creating opportunities for choice in electricity and natural gas.
ACE is launched by a group of REAs, determined to provide a co-op alternative to for-profit energy retailers.
Expansion across Alberta, introduction of renewable programs, and launch of Green Our Community.
ACE is Alberta’s first full-service province-wide co-op energy retailer, serving members with fair rates, transparent billing, and community reinvestment.
Green Our Community
Through Green Our Community, members can add a small per-kWh donation to their bill to support local renewable energy projects. ACE matches all contributions up to $25,000 each year and covers administration costs, ensuring that 100% of donations go directly to community-based initiatives.
Closing Statement
ACE exists because Albertans believed in building their own solutions. That same spirit drives us today. With your support, we’ll continue to grow as a co-op that delivers affordable energy, strengthens communities, and ensures decisions are made right here at home.
